Capital One

Sr. Manager, Product Design 2017-2024

  • Managed the Bank and Card Account Opening portfolios, partnering with product and tech teams to create new experiences. Prioritized requests, monitored workstreams and allocated resources to complete the work as agreed upon with key partners.
  • Produced quantitative and qualitative results through design-driven implementations. One project involved an end to end redesign of the Bank Account Opening experience that resulted in a 67% increase in conversion rate for the prospect customer mobile web segment. Another project received a Collaboration Award for bringing Bank and Card product and tech teams together to create a joint experience for the first time.
  • Served as a member of the Acquisition and Welcome Experiences leadership team, supporting the overall health and productivity of the design team. Strategized with leadership to define a vision for the team and progress toward that vision. Stepped up as responsibilities shifted and there was a need for leaders to take on more direct reports.
  • Mentored and managed junior managers and designers as a people leader. Advocated and oversaw the promotion of 3 designers, and coached 2 other designers out of performance improvement plans when their performances were inconsistent.
  • Led team activities, improved team processes and reinforced the company culture and values. Led quality peer reviews of design work and design critiques.  
  • Before being promoted to a people leader, designed consumer Bank and Card Account Opening UX and UI on web, iOS and Android platforms. Collaborated with product and tech partners to create roadmaps and strategy.

  • Created user flows and wireframes for the company’s marketing cloud and web applications in an Agile development environment using Bootstrap platform.

  • Primary Application Designer for the company’s Website Builder Tool, which underwent a complete redesign. Managed all UX aspects of this major redesign project.
  • Worked on multi-disciplinary teams, including development, analytics, marketing and product management within rapid release cycles using Agile development.

  • Led product, development and operations teams through user centered design processes.
  • Designed, prototyped and tested proprietary claims and customer service applications.
  • Led usability testing of the company’s products, both internally and coordinating with an outside usability lab.
